"Jocks and Sex"

The reason why I've set up the link below is so the readers of this forum will read what others (besides the members of this forum) have to say about some of the issues that have been touched upon. Yes, it is a little dated because of the references to the Duke lacrosse case; but all the other comments are still relevant.

Sorry, but I don't buy it for a second. Most athletes I know are very chill people off the field/court, and I find it hard to believe any athlete would find it hard separating their in game attitude from how they treat women.

Duke Lacrosse case was proven wrong, as was Kobe Bryant.

Your response is respected. I started this topic in anger, and have had second thoughts about it since.

I don't think you were wrong at all Earl. And 99% of the comments left there agree with you. Now, i would like to see the Rutgers research on how the chess teams treat their womens. They pump up their egos so much that i'm sure you could find a direct correlation there too.

Good article. But what is "accidental rape"?? That must be the type of rape basketball and football players are involved with. Inadvertant rapes. ;)

Many of the athletes you hear raped someone are set up because the girl wants the athletes money. Seriously, look at people who have been convicted of rape. For the most part some creepy looking dudes. They rape because they can't get it willingly. No pro athlete needs to rape a girl, they pretty much have their pick of who they want because they have so much money. And if a pro athlete did rape a girl, he was already fucked in the head to begin with, regardless of sports.

You are clearly prejudiced in favor of athletes.

Your argument is that women would willingly sleep with any popular athlete? You are as stupid as the fanatics who believe that when they commit suicide they'll go to heaven and sleep with 77 virgins. It's not true. Athletes rape women for the same reason non-athletes rape women --because they want to/have to.

a lot of women would, yes. You're over estimating most womens morals.

And a lot of women wouldn't.

I found this wikipedia article about Christian Peter.

(For some reason I feel uncomfortable about my own thread. Go figure.)

So how do you explain the high school and college athletes that rape girls? Are they suing for their letter jacket?

So, by your logic, the chess team rape statistics must be sky high. You seem to think that rape is about sex. It's not. It's about power. Wake up.
I think you said it best when you said "convicted" Well sure, we've shown bunches of examples on here where athletes were giving a free pass for their crimes.

Wow, for someone who jumps down our throats when we make a blanket statement, it doesn't even seem to bother you at all.

Those are all decent points, rape sometimes is about power. From what I've seen/heard/read it mostly comes from weird dudes. When some random college or high school athlete does it gets a lot of press because it's a rare story.
