Lewis and Sergey are just teenagers. I, Ray, greencom, and rotten are married men. Don't know the marital status of Katrin and abitagirl.

You might be surprised. Some girls are not sports fans, possibly more than you realize. The problem with groupies and social climbers is that they're shallow, not exactly good candidates for marriage or any kind of deep relationship. As a matter of fact, being married to a gal who was shallow and stupid would be particularly hellish (and very likely would end in divorce). If I were a high-school football player, I would want to be appreciated for the kind of person I was, such as being kind to and respecting others (which seems to be a quality that I'm afraid you might be lacking). I'd want to be viewed as a human being, not as a "trophy boyfriend." By the way, why do you hate nerds? The answer to that question alone could be the topic of a fascinating exchange.

right! I got wimmen lining up around the block to date me. I have to carry a big stick to make them keep their distance. All the girls I know HATE jocks. They like sports but can't stand the kind of guy who thinks they're anything more than a passtime.

That is the only reason why "groupies" in high school go out with the football players.
Not that they really respect who they are, just that they enjoy being with someone who could be classed as a bit of a status symbol. To show a romantic interest in someone just for their popularity and their physique is not the definition of a true relationship. True relationships are built on real interest in the lives of the other person and similarities in the interests of both the man and woman.
Yet the sports players do not care they are only being used by these girls for shallow love, not because the girl wants to start a real relationship with them. After all, the more "chicks" a jock can "pick up", the more masculine and "straight" he'll look to his football buddies and he'll become the centre of respect. These people are just using each other to look better to their friends, not because they're interested in each other in an emotional way that could be the start of a passionate long-term relationship. This applies for both the jock boys and the preppy girls, who only have their eyes set on one thing in high school - social status.
The more attention they can each attract from the opposite sex, the "better" they'll look to their friends. It is a social contest, high school, not one that I ever entered in, because frankly, high school friendships are only temporary. It is far more likely you'll meet your eventual long-term lover or spouse at university or later, not at high school. I know this, not from personal experiences, but from general learning over the years.
Anyway, it's time for me to log off Sports Suck for the night. I'll be back on here tomorrow, probably. You'll be seeing more of me. Don't cry... even 1981 has to part with his computer sometimes.
