For you, as well as Sergey, all I'm going to do is ask you to please take a look at this: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net ... u=startrek

So much for finding "this sort of behavior" only in "sports and extremist cult like religions".
I don't watch Star Trek, but I haven't thought twice when I said Starcraft was better than any sport I've ever played. Sports fans don't harass you for not liking sports? I even know a story from a guy who hated sports but his boss loved them so he resorted to harassing his worker until he finally fired him. We gamers are maturer than you jocks... we deserve just as much praise.

Now that's really sick!!!

Imagine being fired by his boss because he didn't like sports!

Well, I was denied a decent education in school because I didn't like sports!

I wonder how many people are homeless and starving to death in the streets because they didn't like sports, while monkey-boys get paid millions of dollars just for chasing balls, even after they have raped our sisters and daughters.

It's the monkey-boys who deserve to be living in the streets and eating out of garbage cans!

SportsGuy92, I appreciate your continued interest. If you have any questions to ask of any of us, please feel free to ask.

Hey, gang. I think it's safe for me to assume that all of us here have good will, even if some of us are a little edgy. So let's try to be gracious, cut each other some slack, and not be too confrontational. Remember that each of us here feels self-defensive. (Believe me, I'm speaking to myself as well.) And all of you may be wanting me to shut up and stop blathering platitudes.

Nice try, but even you should know by reading this article that it's bullshit. Even if there were truth to it, I've never met a hardcore Trek fan that doesn't start technobabbling without being lead on or encouraged to do so. Every Trek fan I've ever met has been too scared of being ostracized to act the way this little false story describes it. By religious in nature, I'm talking strictly about the proselytizing side. I couldn't care less what sports fans 'believe' or love to do, as long as they keep it out of my life.

This content in this link is dry sarcasm and stretched truth at best, and I find it a little insulting that you think I'd believe this tripe.

Try again, sunshine. Or better yet, try addressing what you have NOT addressed in my previous post about putting effort into modifying the behavior of your own peers. Or are you afraid to?

Is this thread over so soon? I hope it is because I don't want it to counter my "You know what's bullshit..." thread.

A picture (or, in this case, a Smilie) is worth a thousand words. (This website can be quite amusing at times.)

OK, this article was very exagerrated (sp?). But do you know what else is exagerated? This entire website. As someone who enjoys sports, I find it a little insulting that you believe this tripe. Most of you believe not only are most people who like sports are bad, liking sports makes someone inherently bad. Was Fat Man claiming that I am partially responsible for events that happened 40 or 50 years ago not an exaggeration? I actually found that page by googling "i hate star trek", to see if anybody had made a website like this one. I couldn't find one. I know what you're probably going to say about that, "Sports fans don't need websites to make fun of people whose interests are different, they already do in real life." But the point I've been trying to make this whole time is that the proselytizing of (a small minority) of sports fans doesn't come from anything that's wrong with sports but 1) the tendency of people to make fun of others whose tastes aren't normal, which also happens with clothes, music, etc. 2) and their own personality flaws, which are found in all people, not just sports fans. As far as modifying the behavior of my own peers, I can try to, but it's not going to work because that's who they are, my peers, and what I say will be ignored because I have no authority over them.

Also, while we're on the subject of sports vs. Star Trek, everybody think about this. Sports fans, even the ones that go overboard, at least admire real people who go through real pain to complete real accomplishments. On the other hand, fans of Star Trek, Star Wars, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, World of Warcraft, or other TV shows/movies/video games that are considered "nerdy", admire fictional characters who live in some kind of fantasy land. Now tell me which group is more unreasonable?

The sports fans. I play WoW and watch DBZ. I'm offended.
