Why be cruel to sports fans?
Okay, I know I'm not wanted here, but I have relevant arguement that may or may not shock you.
Do you hate sports? If you do, then at some point you must have had some other strong feeling about it, dare I say love? Take this as an example, "To hate is only to show you once loved," how does that apply to you? Because to truely hate something, you have to either give it a chance or actually love it. Have you given any sport a good chance? If you have and you still hate it, good for you, but if not or if you're just angry at the stereotype jock, then shame on you. I, for one, know intelligent and good-sported people who play football and soccer, maybe some basketball. It isn't them who you hate is it? No it's the stereotype, bully jock who you're angry with.
Now, you see those of you who have given any sport a chance and hate it, then I'm not mad at you, atleast your opinion isn't biased against those who play it, rather its the gameplay that annoys you. This isn't directed towards you.
As for the rest of you, you're jealous/stereotyping ways are biased against those who aren't what you think. I even know the captain of my football team scoring in the top 10 in our Algebra 1 finals, and he's even a year ahead. So, if that's what you hate about sports, then you're descisions are biased and aren't thought out.
If this is even relevant, I'm 13 years old and I'm in 8th grade (9th year in some parts of the world) and I am athletic and I do think deeply about most things in todays society.
If the above statements do not apply to you (jealousy, not giving them a chance, jock hating, ect.) then this isn't directed towards you, its only to those who think that the jocks are what make a game of football or basketball or those who haven't even tried and are there just to think of ways to disciminate towards those who do enjoy the sports. "To hate something is to show that you once loved," that is true. If you truly hate sports then you would know enough about them to actually tell, they're just games to pass time by and to keep healthy but without doing a continuous set of pushup or sit-ups.
The point of this post is: They're just games, some people obsess over them, yes, but it isn't your business to look down apon them; everyone has their hobbies and you're trying to break it down because "a bunch of jocks" bullied you around. You're either stereotyping or not giving them a chance, and so you're but a critic, and you don't truly hate sports.
My advice to you is to please don't try to break down what someone's life could be about. Yes, it can be unfair at times, but some people enjoy challenges, and enjoy the competition.
You can lock this thread or try to insult me in any way, but that'd only prove to me of your immaturity.
Im saying all of this in a kind way, so please try to reply kindly.

Does anyone have any comments about my post above or are you hold back and flames that you might have to say. If that is so, then I applaud you for your being able to control yourself, yet it does dsappoint me that some of you might not understand me either because you're already making a mental note, most likely stating that either I should be banned or that I'm a brainless sportsfan, or maybe you don't have a vocabulary so large as mine. If that's what you're thinking, then I'm sorry to have proven you wrong.

I really like how you waited four minutes for a response. How about taking your head out of your ass before sprouting off some smug remark about how you're better than us, next time? Everybody isn't going to flock to your thread just because you're some random sports fan.
How about this -- you like sports, we don't. If you don't like our free minds, our different way of thinking, then leave. Ignore us if you don't like what we're saying. It's not as if we're all over the place like worthless sports, is it? You sports fans come down here, to this little corner of the web, to tell us we're "losers" and that we "suck" and let us know that you think we're "gay". What, because we don't like watching men run around in skimpy outfits? Why should we conform to something we hate?
The thought of not liking sports seems so alien to you, it's not 'normal', is it? Well, if I may be so blunt, who gives a shit?

I am not saying I'm better, I'm saying that there's still potential in sports and that you're trying to make it seem smaller then it actually is. That responce was just me angry at the fact that you can't find any reason to leave sports be. If its being jealous/not giving sports a chance, then I am angry at you. However, if that isn't the reason, then I am sorry to put you through this inconvenience.
Seeing as you think I'm saying I'm better only says that either you're jealous or that you don't like the attitude of jocks. Life isn't fair, but atleast try to tolerate it. There are worse things, such as murder and rape. That's what really disgusts me, not some sport where a "Brain-dead Sports Fan" continues to watch. I'd also like to ask, how old are you? Any real mature person wouldn't worry about that and let the government worry about more pressing matters such as war; and those of you in another country (non-American), try to tolerate sports because the sports fans are tolerating your presence, are they not?
Also, if all sports are wrong, then why is it the police and fire fighters have a past in football or baseball? If it's so wrong then why are they saving lives? If you truly think that being able to negotiate with someone criminally insane is easy, then lets see how many people you save. I've seen my father talk to someone day in and day out about saving a little boy's life and he's a football fan.
No, I'm not saying I'm better, I'm just saying that I know people who made that potential in sports bigger and better for themselves than some other people. I know not all people get that potential, but there is that chance that they'd save people's lives, don't you think?
If you say police kill people, then its only for their or the people they're helping's life safety, and that they usually come out holding those kids in their arms taking them to safety or they got the handcuffs on the criminal and yet another family can sleep well at night.
You can't respect smaller aspects of sports and so you feel it isn't worthwhile.
I see now, by Skul's comment that you aren't jealous, you just haven't given sports a chance, and I'm begging you to please, try to find those finer points of sports and try to tolerate this sick and cruel world; I try my best to do so.
I am sorry if I upsetted you in any way, and I am sorry to jump in and shoot another opinion out here in this board, but we all have constituional rights (in the USA atleast) and we(you and I) have a right to an opinion. You can say anything you want, but please kindly, unlike Skul did, reply to my post if you wish to do so. Skul, this is to you: Don't try to be the one to start the war, try to be the one who ends it; you hold your own life in your hands, please try to make it as right as you can. We all make mistakes, but they can all be forgiven if you truly care.
I am not any better than you, all men/women are created equal.
'You' was used in a plural form (except when I spoke directly to Skul) so you (anyone who reads this) have no reason to tell me that I'm pointing at Skul alone.

I was only asking for a friendly reply with your comment, not "Pleeeeeease like sports"
I'm just curious as to why you dislike sports. I am not here to start conflict with you all, I'm here to ask questions as anyone would.
If you really expect to destroy sports, you have to give reasons why, as if in court. I gave my reasons why sports aren't bad, and I'm finished with my case. I really don't care if sports are abolished or anything like that, I'd just like to know why.
Just pretend I am representing sports in court. I gave my reasons why sports shouldn't be taken away. Now I'd like to know why each of you think it should be taken away.
I am not here to judge, I am only here to point out my case. Now I ask for a friendly and formal reason why my case is void and your's is not.
As you can see sports isn't "all I can do" and I am clearly not "stoopid".

I'm sorry you feel that way and seeing as no one can be any more mature than the sports fans, I believe the ignorance you hate is also what you dish out. I know you're entitled to your own beliefs and I respect that, just don't try to go anywhere saying sports fans are ignorant especially with that attitude, you HYPOCRITE. I'm sorry, but that's exactly what you are. Brain-dead sports fans may be loud and ignorant, but your sheer uncaring of anyone else's thoughts show a much louder ignorance, in my opinion. I'm leaving here, knowing that no civilization has any respect for anyone but themselves.
A little advice: Tolerate the sports fans because they tolerate you; don't start fights, try to end the ones already at hand; don't critisize something for what it has if you're basically just like it.
Farewell, and good luck on your adventure.

I've been away, but it's good to see we're still all here. Now then, back to our little thirteen-year-old who can't take NO for an answer:
This final bit I love. Here, we see a sports fan trying to push their bad points onto us.
'Don't fight that other boy because he likes Cocktown and you like Dickville. Just leave him alone, there's a good boy.'
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Well, since you think we're ignorant and arrogant, I thought I'd say that to satisfy you a little. It doesn't make you right, though.
Then what's your problem?Sportsarentbad wrote:I know you're entitled to your own beliefs and I respect that
So not liking sports is 'ignorant', huh? Okay, whatever you say...just don't try to go anywhere saying sports fans are ignorant especially with that attitude, you HYPOCRITE.
No we're fucking not! Don't you try to tell us what we are! Just because you, a random little kid, says something, that doesn't make it true. Moron.I'm sorry, but that's exactly what you are.
Sports fans also show an uncaring attitude of those who dislike or hate sports!Brain-dead sports fans may be loud and ignorant, but your sheer uncaring of anyone else's thoughts show a much louder ignorance, in my opinion.
Oh, we're missing you, already.I'm leaving here
This final bit I love. Here, we see a sports fan trying to push their bad points onto us.
No they don't, which is exactly why this website exists! I'm sure you've noticed your sports buddies showing a complete lack of tolerance for us. You, yourself, are showing little tolerance for us, since you can't seem to grasp that we hate sports.Tolerate the sports fans because they tolerate you
We don't. Sports fans do. Especially if someone supports an opposing team, whereas sports haters don't bat an eyelid at a team colour.don't start fights
So you want us to clean up for you? You want us to handle you and take care of you?try to end the ones already at hand
'Don't fight that other boy because he likes Cocktown and you like Dickville. Just leave him alone, there's a good boy.'
Read over that sentence and see if it makes sense. We're criticising sports for what it has (overpriced players and over-hyped commercialism) because we're just like it...don't critisize something for what it has if you're basically just like it.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Good riddance, although we know that you're going to keep coming back because you know we're right.Farewell, and good luck on your adventure.

You know, this guy was trying to see our point of view, and much as we loathe sports, we can still think of more than one reason. Remember, I eventually started bullying the Jocks... so it's not like I didn't get my payback. I have other reasons to hate sports.
I hate the waste of money
I hate the rabid obsessiveness
I hate the fact that sports are seen as such a high priority, to the point that a town's only hospital gets demolished so a stadium can get built.
Look people, we CANNOT, in our hate, become just as stupid and rabid and drooling and moronic as the average sports-fan. Otherwise we are no better.

Hello, I'm sure that you are an intelligent 13-year-old with a thoughtful attitude. I can certainly appreciate that.
I don't understand why people of any age don't understand that visiting websites and forums devoted to a particular interest, cater to people of those particular interests.
Please understand that this is a place for folks to grouse and let off steam because of the constant hype and exposure to sports that we have to suffer through.
I, pesonally, don't hate people whose priorities are not the same as mine. I really don't care for sports, sporting events, news accounts of sports, billboards recruiting fans of sports and their teams. In fact, if there was a "level playing field" (even my metaphor vocabulary is infected). I would be totally indifferent to sports, and their fans. I really couldn't care less for sports and related subjects....
I consider sports to be needless clutter in my life.
I resent it when people assume that I share their interests and bore me with details of meaningless contests that take place in various stadia. I enjoy reading non-fiction books about politics and philosophy. I wouldn't dream of just walking up to some random fellow and starting a tirade about the virtues and faults of particular authors, publishers, typefonts, etc., etc. ad-nauseum. I expect the same courtesy in return, from sports fans.
I don't log onto chat sites sponsored by ESPN asking for reasons that the members enjoy spectator sports, I also don't go on those sites and question their sanity, patriotism, sexual orientation, etc. The thought of me doing so is ludicrous.
Please enjoy your school years and please remember to respect boundaries and sensibilities of communities and websites you visit in the future. Again, you appear to be quite intelligent and have good writing skills for a 13-year-old. Congratulations for that. I hope you will go on to become a productive, happy member of society. Goodness knows we need such people in abundance.
Best wishes,
Swabby
