Football bores me to tears
Football bores me to tears
I've finally come to the conclusion that watching 90-95 minutes of 22 men chase a ball around where often there is no score is like pulling teeth. I am also sick of the bores who consider this overrated game to be the biggest thing in their lives and regard non fans with contempt. Honestly I feel sorry for football fans as they are so deluded about what is a boring game played by idiots who, if they weren't playing football, would probably be on the dole as they are so talentless otherwise.

I used to be sometimes invited, encouraged, whatever, to watch entire football games in the past, and I tried, but I was so bored I couldn't do it. Plus all the constant stopping and starting drove me nuts. I don't know how anybody can stand it. I would usually say I needed a nap or something just to get away from the game for a little while.
Yes, it really is JUST A GAME.
Re: Football bores me to tears
I know just what your saying abitagirl, here is my last experience with something similar.abitagirl wrote:I used to be sometimes invited, encouraged, whatever, to watch entire football games in the past, and I tried, but I was so bored I couldn't do it. Last Thanksgiving my wife and I were invited to some friends for dinner. I did not realize that after we ate I would be sitting in the living room forced to listen to the usual T. day F.B. game. Notice I say listening to it. When the male friend said to me, hey Dan, "aren't you interested in the game?" Well it so happened all this time I had been staring at their family dog who was snoozing in front of me, and I responded to his question with, "No, I'd rather watch your dog sleep!" That put an abrupt end to the conversation.
Like I had said in one of my 1st posts, that is the last T. day I will ever spend with anyone. Hello casino, HERE I COME. dan

Hey, abitagirl, I was in a pub yesterday for two hours and 99 per cent of the conversation revolved around a football match that had ended hours earlier. I was desperate to discuss with these guys my night out at the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it would have been like talking in Latin to them, they were practically orgasming about a 6-1 result as if it was the only thing that happened all weekend. Also a lot of these bozos seem to have no life beyond this tedious game and no doubt they will be getting excited about some bore called the Carling Cup this week. I can see why I choose to spend more time with my girlfriend 100 miles away each weekend than sit watching a bunch of knobs chasing a bag of wind for 95 minutes.abitagirl wrote:I used to be sometimes invited, encouraged, whatever, to watch entire football games in the past, and I tried, but I was so bored I couldn't do it. Oh no, not that 6-1!!! Not that dreaded 6-1. I'm all the way in the Middle East and I've gotten sick of seeing it everywhere I go. Everywhere, and it's not even in our bloody country. They treat it like some sort of a "war victory" over an evil, dark and sinister horde of barbaric, genocidal warmongers. Where in reality it's just a stupid 6-1 win between two teams. It's not David's victory over Goliath, it's not the Allies victory over the Axis, it's not the Egyptians victory over the Mongols. It's a bloody 6-1 in a 90 minute game and they spoke about it like it's the second coming of Jesus, or like humanity rescued itself from martian destruction.Ex fan wrote:Hey, abitagirl, I was in a pub yesterday for two hours and 99 per cent of the conversation revolved around a football match that had ended hours earlier. Talk to the people in the pub about a remarkable medical discovery that can pave way to curing diseases, they won't care. Tell them you'll burn down a public library or opera house (you don't mean it ofcourse), they won't nudge. But tell them their football team sucks and their manager is fickle... and it's Armageddon in the pub.
Re: Football bores me to tears
Well I really annoyed a fan today just for a laugh.
Me, " Premiership footballers should be taxed at 99 per cent to bring down the deficit."
Fan, " They pay enough as it is, 50 per cent."
Me, " I'd tax them at 99 per cent just to see them all be brought down to earth and their silly game fall apart."
Fan( getting red faced and angry), " You mean you would like to see football( soccer) destroyed. What's the matter with you."
Me, " It's a game played by talentless morons that is on 24/7 on sports channels that pollute the traditional English pubs and drive non fans out."
Fan ( muttering), " How can you say that? I can't believe you said that, it's a wonderful game."
Me, " To me it isn't and the sooner people see through it the better."
Fan, " You have no faith."
A minor victory, but I am encouraging non fans, particularly men, to speak out against the vile game of modern football ( soccer). I have even with other non fans started describing it as European soccer, which they hate even more as technically one non fan stated that the real football is actually rugby football and is the true English ball game, not association football. Not that I'm big on this other type of football, but some of the soccer bores don't like their sport being attacked, yet quite happily abuse non fans.

Hey! Count me in! I'm with you on that!
Of course, we can get a sports fan drunk on his ass, and then, push him in front of a bus!
Yeah! Make it look like an accident!
I know! I have a good one!
Let him use your hot tub.
Then, while he's relaxing in the warm water, plug in a TV set and toss it in!
Hey,Wibberley! I have an idea.
Let's have a little contest between the two of us, and see who and come up with the most psycho way to do in a sports fan.
But, we got to make it look like an accident so we don't get into trouble with the law.
OK?
I'm fat and sassy! I love to sing & dance & stomp my feet & really rock your world!

Re: Football bores me to tears
At last the season ends on Sunday in England. However, there will be little relief this summer as there is the European Cup Final on May 19th and the European Championship for 3 weeks in June. The bores who normally go into hibernation for 3 months will be creaming their pants with excitement, it means a quiet summer pint will be interrupted by " patriots" screaming at the screen when England are playing.
