OK, normally I would post this in the topic that is titled Last thing you Watched/Read.

But I felt that this particular movie that I had watched this evening deserved it's very own topic.

From 6:00 - 8:00 PM, I watched a movie titled Idiocracy on Comedy Central.

Idiocracy (2006)

Selected for a human hibernation project, an average soldier awakens 500 years in the future, where society is so dumbed-down that he is the smartest person alive.

Starring - Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Terry Crews, David Herman

The movie was directed by Mike Judge, some guy in Texas who created the cartoons Beavis & Butthead and King Of The Hill.

Then he want on to direct a movie titled Idiocracy

Here is some more information about the 2 hour movie.

Idiocracy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Idiocracy is a 2006 comedic film, directed by Mike Judge and starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph.

The film tells the story of two ordinary people who are taken into a top-secret military hibernation experiment that goes awry, and awaken 500 years in the future. They discover that the world has degenerated into a dystopia where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly stupid human society devoid of individual responsibility or consequences.

Despite its lack of a major theatrical release, the film has achieved a cult following.

Plot

A narrator (Earl Mann) explains that in modern society, natural selection has become indifferent toward intelligence, so that in a society in which intelligence is systematically debased, stupid people easily out-breed the intelligent, creating, over the course of five centuries, an irredeemably dysfunctional society. Consequently, the children of the educated elites are drowned in a sea of sexually promiscuous, illiterate, alcoholic, degenerate peers.

In 2005, Corporal Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson), a US Army librarian graphed as the Army's "most average" soldier, and Rita (Maya Rudolph), a prostitute whose pimp, Upgrayedd, (pronounced as "Upgrade") is paid to make sure she is not missed, are guinea pigs in a secret, year-long, military hibernation project. They are sealed in their hibernation chambers, to be awakened a year later, but the experiment is forgotten when the officer in charge, Lieutenant Colonel Collins (Michael McCafferty), is arrested for having started his own prostitution ring under the tutelage of Upgrayedd. The military base is demolished, and a Fuddruckers is built on the site.

Five hundred years in the future, their hibernation chambers are jarred open by an enormous garbage avalanche, reviving both of them. Joe crashes into the apartment of Frito Pendejo (Dax Shepard), a typical idiot-citizen of the future U.S. with an apartment full of junk food and a prominent, giant television that is covered with adverts.

A disoriented Joe heads to the hospital where he receives a diagnosis of "'tarded" and "fucked up" from a doctor (Justin Long). Seeing the date of 2505 on a magazine repeated on his bill, Joe realizes that 500 years have passed since his being frozen and flees the hospital. As he interacts with the people he sees, he is able to understand them though his remarks are dismissed as pompous and "faggy".

Joe is arrested for not paying his hospital bill and for not having a barcode tattoo which all residents have imprinted on their arms. Meanwhile, Rita is not as shocked to see the newly changed world and quickly learns to take advantage of the lower intelligence of those around her to earn money as a prostitute.

At his trial, Joe's public defense lawyer is none other than Frito, who stupidly helps convict him, citing the prosecutor's insistence that Joe is guilty and his own anger at Joe for getting garbage in his apartment. Joe is imprisoned; the I.D.-tattoo machine parses Joe's confused response as his name, branding him "Not Sure." During an absurdly simple IQ test Joe grasps just how stupid humanity has become. Easily escaping his dim jailers by saying on arrival that he was meant to be released that day and is in the wrong queue, Joe returns to Frito's apartment, asking him if a time machine exists to help him return to 2005. Frito claims there is one, but agrees to help only after Joe promises him billions of dollars in interest on a bank account that Joe will open in the past on his return.

En route to the time machine, Joe and Frito find Rita. She does not realize that she's been asleep for 500 years until Joe tells her so, but even so, she fears Upgrayedd will find her. Frito leads them to a city-sized Costco, where Joe is arrested again after his bar code is accidentally scanned. Instead of being returned to jail, Joe is taken to the White House to be signed in as the new Secretary of the Interior, the President (Terry Crews) having seen the results of Joe's IQ test which show Joe as the smartest man alive. In a speech the President charges Joe with solving the world's problems: food shortages, dust bowls, a crippled economy, and related issues. Though Joe initially professes that he knows nothing of resolving these issues, when he discovers that the crops are watered with a Gatorade-like sports drink named "Brawndo", he finds himself knowledgeable enough to correct the problem.

After several failed attempts to explain to the cabinet members the importance of water in irrigation, Joe instead convinces them that he can talk to plants, and persuades the cabinet members to start irrigating the crops with water. Unbeknownst to Joe, half the country works for Brawndo and his decision to use water in the fields causes the company's stock to plummet, causing massive unemployment, apparently without improving the crop situation. The angry population riots, and Joe is sentenced to "Rehabilitation", a Running Man/Mad Max-style demolition derby featuring undefeated Rehabilitation Officer Beef Supreme (Andrew Wilson).

Meanwhile, Rita discovers that Joe's reintroduction of water to the soil has finally made vegetation sprout in the fields. To save Joe (and with Frito in tow), she bribes a TV cameraman to show the thriving crops to the world. Imperiled, Joe gives a heartfelt speech, asking everyone if they really want to kill the one person who's trying to help them, but is simply laughed at. Just in time, Frito shows the thriving crops. The President sees the thriving new plants on the stadium's big screen televisions and gives Joe a full pardon just as he is about to be incinerated by a flamethrower.

At the celebration, Joe decides to stay and help repair civilization and the President names Joe Vice President. He later finds that the time machine spoken of earlier is simply a highly inaccurate amusement park history ride. Joe serves a short term as Vice President and is subsequently elected to the presidency. During his acceptance speech, Joe is heard making statements to the effect that in his time, reading "wasn't just for fags" and that movies had plots that made people care "whose ass it was and why it was farting", the last referring to a previous scene in the movie, where Joe went to a cinema to watch a comedic movie named "Ass", which contained of a static image of a naked bottom accompanied by sounds of flatulence. The narrator states that, although Joe did not save humanity from itself, he did put it back on the track toward intelligence. Joe and Rita marry and have the world's three smartest children, while Frito, now Joe's Vice President, takes eight wives and fathers thirty-two of the world's stupidest children, echoing the introduction to the film.

After the credits, a third hibernation capsule is shown opening, releasing a snappily dressed Upgrayedd intent on tracking down Rita.

Production

Early working titles included The United States of Uhh-merica and 3001. Filming took place during 2004 in and around the cities of Austin, San Marcos, Pflugerville, and Round Rock, Texas. Test screenings around March 2005 produced unofficial reports of poor audience reactions. After some re-shooting in the summer of 2005, a UK test screening in August produced a report of a positive impression.

Release issues

As of February 2005 the film's scheduled release date was August 5, 2005, according to Mike Judge. In April 2006, a release date was set for September 1, 2006. In August, numerous articles revealed that release was to be put on hold indefinitely. Idiocracy was released as scheduled but only in seven cities (Los Angeles, Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Mike Judge's hometown, Austin), and expanded to only 125 theaters, not the usual wide release of 2500-3000 theaters. According to the Austin American-Statesman, 20th Century Fox, the film's distributor, did nothing to promote the movie รข?? while posters were released to theatres, "no movie trailers, no ads, and only two stills..." and no press kits were released. The film was not screened for critics. Lack of concrete information from 20th Century Fox led to speculation that Fox may have actively tried to keep the film from being seen by a large audience, while fulfilling a contractual obligation for theatrical release ahead of a DVD release, according to Ryan Pearson of AP. That speculation was followed by open criticism from Ain't It Cool News, Time Magazine and Esquire Magazine. In The New York Times Dan Mitchell argued that Fox might be shying away from the cautionary tale about low-intelligence dysgenics. This was a result of the film's anti-corporate message, noting that in the film Starbucks now delivers handjobs, and the motto of Carl's Jr. has degenerated from "Don't Bother Me. I'm Eating." to "Fuck You! I'm Eating!" Also in the film, a Carl's Jr. vending machine cheats a customer (not only of her food, but takes custody of her children as well), Fuddruckers' name gradually morphs into "Buttfuckers", the Brawndo (a parody of Gatorade) corporation buys the F.D.A. and the F.C.C, and the Fox News Channel is depicted in unflattering newscasts (20th Century Fox, which distributed the film, and the Fox News Channel are both owned by the Rupert Murdoch-controlled News Corporation).

Reception

As noted, Idiocracy was not screened for critics, its much-delayed release received virtually no publicity and the film was initially distributed to only 130 screens. Despite this lack of support from the studio, the film received generally favorable reviews by critics. Rotten Tomatoes returned a 74% "fresh" rating based on 38 reviews, and Metacritic states a 64% approval based on 8 reviewers, and a 7.4/10 rating by 81 site users. Praise focused on concept, casting, and humor; the worst of the criticism was directed at the film's release issues, some special effects and story pacing problems.

Box office receipts totaled $444,093 in 135 theaters in the U.S.

Releases

The movie was released on DVD on January 9, 2007 with fullframe and widescreen aspect ratios, deleted scenes, English and Spanish spoken language tracks, and subtitles in English, Spanish, and French. As of February 2007, it had earned $9 million on DVD rentals, over 20 times the limited theatrical release. On September 1, 2007 the film opened for cable and satellite viewers on the Cinemax premium channel, and started airing on HBO networks in January 2008. On February 15, 2009 the film received its basic cable premiere, shown edited for TV on Comedy Central. However, one written use of the word "fuck" was still shown, in the parody of the restaurant Fuddruckers known as "Buttfuckers" (removed since the premiere).

In the United Kingdom, unedited versions of the movie have been shown on satellite channel Sky Comedy on 26 February 2009 with the Freeview premiere shown on FilmFour on 26 April 2009.

Cult following

Despite the small release and lack of promotion, Idiocracy has grown to have a strong following. In 2007, Omni Consumer Products (named after the fictitious RoboCop corporation) introduced Brawndo as a real energy drink. It is marketed online with a tongue-in-cheek YouTube advertisement featuring the voice of Mark Little, inspired by one of the Picnicface sketches called "Powerthirst".

Similar stories

The idea of a dystopian society based on dysgenics is not new. H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, postulates a devolved society of humans, as does Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. More notably, C.M. Kornbluth wrote The Marching Morons in 1951, a story with similarities to Idiocracy. While end details varied, both the story and movie start out with the premise of a person of our time being in suspended animation and awakening to a greatly devolved society.
OK, I just got to say, that this was just about the ABSOLUTE STUPIDEST MOVIE I HAD EVER SEEN!

BUT I LOVED IT BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY AS ALL HELL AND IT'S SOOOOOOOOO FUCKING TRUE!!!

OK, here is what makes the movie kind of stupid.

If we have a population where the average IQ is between 70 to 80, which is moderately retarded, then after 500 years, all technology would break down.

Yet they still had electricity in their cities with crumbling buildings, running water, and a TV broadcast system, and also motor vehicles.

This would not be possible because, if the average IQ among the citizens is between 70 to 80, they would be semi-literate at best with a reading level around the first or second grade and would lack the knowledge and technical skills to maintain electric power plants, running water, motor vehicles and a TV broadcast system. After 500 years, the technology would break down and they would be living in conditions similar to the way people lived in the 1700s, unless there was a small elite group of well educated people hiding away somewhere, and somehow, secretly maintaining the electrical power plants, running water, a TV broadcast network, and repairing vehicles.

Now, why do I say that this movie is SOOOOOOO FUCKING TRUE???

Well, it kind of shows the direction our society is heading, with the declining quality of education and our obsession with sports. This futuristic society 500 years from now was also obsessed with violent sports that would make our football and hockey look as tame as tiddly winks by comparison.

I mean, like, really!!!!

Just look at our declining quality of education, increasing anti-intellectualism, and ever growing obsession with violent sports, and stretch this trend out over a 500 year period and our country will devolve from being a Democracy to an Idiocracy! We are well on our way.

That's why I say this movie rings so fucking true!

OK, you can download this move and save it to your computer.

I had to go to:

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/none/dow ... ie-781885/

Because I have a Yahoo account, I had to log in with my Yahoo user name and password.

Then I was directed to ZML.COM where I had to create a new account.

I had to use my debit card to purchase the video, but it was only 90 cents.

And then, after I created my new account with ZML, I had to enter Idiocracy in the web site search which took me to the page to download the movie.

You should see the following on the web page . . . . .
Downloading "Idiocracy"

Please read this before contacting customer support.

Add the following files to your download-manager or download them with your browser (right click on each link and choose "Save As..." option):

Idiocracy.avi

Please Read This!

99% of playback and download problems WILL be solved if you follow these simple rules:

1. If you have problems with video or sound (like no picture or no sound), the first thing to do is to download and install codec pack from the section below. You should uninstall any other codec packs from your system IF you have any. Our movies are encoded with Xvid/DivX codec which is not installed on Windows systems by default, however it's a very widely used codec so most people already have it.

2. Do NOT use Internet Explorer to download movies! Movies are split into relatively large files (500-700MB) and if your download freezes for some reason, Internet Explorer will NOT resume it! Use some download manager instead, for example, FlashGet which can be downloaded for free from the downloads section below.

Software Downloads

All these downloads are FREE, software does not contain any adware or spyware.

Codecs: K-Lite Codec Pack 4.1.7 download | official website
Perian Codec for Mac OS official website

Video Player: VLC 0.9.2 Windows | Mac OS X | official website

Download Manager: FlashGet 1.96 download | official website

Folx Download Manager (Mac OS X) download
When you save the video to your computer, it will not run on Windows Media Player or Real Player because it's an .avi file.

You will need to download and install the VLC Player to watch these videos.

If you happen to be using the Mozilla Firefox browser, then, so much the better!

Also, it's the unedited version. Another words the dirty language is not bleeped out as it is on the TV version, and it takes up 700 megabytes of memory on your hard drive.

OK, now here is a You Tube Video for the Brawndo commercial. Brawndo is another sports drink much like our Gatorade, only more concentrated and loaded with even more sugar!

Yeah! This kind of shows the direction were heading!

I'd be quite interested to see this film. I'm sure in 500 years from now the people will probably still have this in an archive somewhere, watch it and take offence at what us lot thought they would be like by then! Of course, there is the chance that this film could become reality, and I wouldn't want to completely dismiss it. Exams are becoming easier and easier for students to pass now. Whenever I'm on my own in McDonalds during a weekend lunchtime I'm always hearing the teenagers talking about how they're getting good grades in exams without even doing any revision or prior preparation. Either that or I'm hearing them announcing how they did shit in the latest exams, and they don't seem to care at all. They seriously don't. I do worry sometimes; the future lies with the young. Not that I'm incredibly old or over-the-hill, not even being 29 yet, but young people do seem to be caring less about getting a good education now in favour of things like getting drunk, parties or just doing jack-shit. You have to sodding WORK while you're in your final years at high school and at university. Face it, you go there to get an education and not constantly gasbag with your mates or chat about who got pissed and collapsed outside the pub on Saturday night. So sometimes, yes I do worry about where society is heading. What we don't want is this film to become an accurate prediction of the future...

Best regards.

WARNING! DO NOT DOWNLOAD VIDEOS FROM ZML.COM!!!

OK, yesterday, I purchased a movie video, the movie titled Idiocracy from ZML.com and it was only suppose to cost me 90 cents.

But today, I checked my Wells Fargo on line bank account, and I have a balance of $ -33.69 because of a purchase I did not make.

05/10/10 CHKCARDABOVEMALL.COM ABOVEMACOMRURU -- $51.27
05/10/10 CHKCARDSKILLFULDEAL.COVICTORI SCRU ----------$2.99

I have never heard of ABOVEMALL.COM and they hit me with a $51.27 charge for I know not what!
And then another charge for $2.99 for God know what!

So, I called Wells Fargo to dispute these charges which will be refunded back to me within 5 days, and once again, I have to get a new debit card and have the old one canceled.

This sucks!

Going out on the Internet is like going out into the ghetto and getting mugged!

Wow, first you're ranting about how great the film is, how glad you are that you downloaded and watched it and how it shows people are getting progressively more stupid and ignorant over time, and the next post you submit you're mad at having been scammed by the site you downloaded it off. A little ironic - even I know not to trust these dodgy film download sites. It's NOT legal what they do. There are plenty of DVD and video shops to go to, ya know. Believe me, you'd save yourself a lot of fuss.

Shut the fuck up!

The movie was only suppose to cost me 90 cents to download.

Yes, it is a good video, but I had no idea that 90 cents would cost me 54 dollars!

So, shut the fuck up!

Hmmm... I most certainly saw James online just before I logged in. Well, it could just be me. I've not gone to check his profile yet but perhaps he's found a way around the ban. If it was an IP ban and not a full account ban, it won't do anything. All he needs is a proxy server or just a friend with internet access and bingo, he's back on. I fear that's how he may have come back on. Thankfully he's not posted anything. I'm getting really sick of this >my face and JEST crap now. I noticed that the 4channers quoted some of his posts on the /sp/ board back on 29th May. I'd like to have read their reactions to his posts but alas, the threads don't last long on there.

Anyways, back from my usual gym session tonight. Alright, again. Even I have use for the odd bit of exercise.

Apparently the newest member is veronica, and according to her profile statistics she's made a post, yet if you check the thread she posted in, it is not there. Perhaps it was deleted and she may be a troll. Here's her profile: http://www.sportssuck.org/phpbb2/member ... ile&u=6531

And veronica, if you're not a troll, I sincerely apologize, and it is just a misunderstanding. I'm sure you understand that we have to be suspicious of trolls after the 4chan troll raid (I wasn't around during the main raid, yet I've definitely seen the aftermath).

Veronica's post still seems to be there on the John Terry drug thread. I responded to her post, ever so eager to find out more damaging information on those in the sporting world, and she doesn't seem to have posted since. I don't think she is a troll. I doubt it. I don't think she'll be back, though, which is a shame, as this board needs some new members. No major discussions seem to happen anymore which is why my posts are getting shorter of late. We need more people like SportsGuy92 and The Quiet One so that we can have some good discussions on here again. I wish I had signed up last year when we had some real critics to debate with on here and not just a bunch of irritating trolls.

I was looking on 4chan's /b/ thread, but they didn't say anything about any site raids, just raiding their own site - other threads like /sp/.
A real problem would be if /b/ caught onto this... but I highly doubt they're smart enough to.

Anywho... I saw Idiocracy twice before, on television. I did find it to be quite... "accurate"... as a sort of prediction to what the U.S. will end up like.
Oh, and I was looking up some statistics. http://www.nationmaster.com
I've seen that the U.S. has the top mortality rates in mundane things like stair-related accidents, stabbings, beatings, and cliff falls. To be honest, it makes me feel ashamed to be associated with this country sometimes...

There were probably a few people from the /b/ board who came and raided this website having disguised themselves as coming from /sp/. I heard this is what they do, but I might be wrong. Still, you never know with these people.

But yeah, I've been through that thread a few times myself; it's the best-known thread of the site, /b/. And yes, they sure are a /b/unch of idiots.
