Boy those fans sure do appreciate comedy

My wife, who is also a big Monty Python fan showed me this video of a marching band playing Monty Python songs at a half time show.
You can tell the band worked really hard on the show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pUFJ7a8_OU

It was funny, the announcer had to explain what Monty Python was so all the sports bores would understand that it was supposed to be funny. He should have told them it was something that makes you laugh, like when a baseball hits someone in the nuts. That probably would have helped them understand. Anyway, the band does a great job and worked their tails off all to be greeted at the end of the routine by silence. To say it went over their heads is an understatement. I think it went completely over the stadium. Then the college fight song comes on and you better believe it wakes up those Pavlovian sports fans. DUUR HUUUUR DUM DUM DUM FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT HEHE I SING A DUH SONG!!!

Awesome! That was great! They did the silly walk and had the monks too --I bet that was fun for them. Too bad the effort was largely wasted. I was surprised at how well they played the music from King Author and the Knights of the Round Table. It sounded just like it.

So, because they didn't know about the Monty Python they are dumb? Different interests for different people. That's like me laughing at you guys because you didn't understand what was going on when people reenacted a famous Super Bowl play.

Polite24,
You're laughing at us? Man you have no idea how stupid you sound to us. Yes I think not knowing about Monty Python IS stupid. There are things I know about football even though I hate it, I can tell you what city most NFL teams are from and the basic rules of the stupid game because I hear and remember things. Even if you are not a Monty Python fan you have to be really dense and narrow not to know about it.Did you read my post about my company testing us technicians for our general knowledge and the only ones that passed were the non sports guys? Face it, jocks are intimidated by people with brains and the only way they can counter this fear is to belittle bully and insult them. You say we don't understand what was going on at the reenacted Super Bowl event, we understand, a pointless replay of a pointless event in a pointless game. PISS on the Super Bowl!

Once again, you missed the point. The point was, whether or not they got the jokes, they reacted like they could care less that the band worked their asses off to try to entertain them. I guess it was dumb of me to expect that sports bores would understand what hard work that isn't sports related is and then know how to react to it politely.

Maybe they were confused?

and the 2nd part of the post that "ignored" was built off of me laughing at you.

I could see that, shouldn't be to hard to confuse them, just like i said, they don't understand something unless it's physical and sports related. They shouldn't be able to understand when someone works hard on a routine and be polite.

So which is it, or do you just want to have it both ways? I guess it just depends on how you are trying to defend yourself eh?

I got you man

My friends and I reenact a famous play from the Super Bowl. You sit there confused, having no idea what that was. My friends and I then proceed to laugh at you.

Obviously that is a fictional story, but it's the equivalent of you guys laughing at sports fans because they don't know what the Monty Python is.

For better or worse I do watch a lot of TV not even including sports and I don't know what the Monty Python is.
