Boring 70's rock?!?! How dare you insult the decade that produced the finest music known to man! You'd best not come to Glasgow or I'll track you down and kick seven shades of shit out of you!
You also ask why we don't like rap. Answer - cause it's fucking crap. No talent at all. Perfect stuff for retards like you!

It actually is 70's rock, so good call. Maybe some 80's too?
And you guys are very ignorant about rap, and I'll just leave it at that.

Let's be honest here, rap is very easy to be ignorant about! It's the sort of music people my age hate as we didn't have it back in the 80's when we were growing up. Over the years, I have seen the quality of the charts decline further and further... granted, we did have some stinkers in the 80's but these days nobody seems to do anything daring or new, which they did then!

Of course you think the quailty of the charts is declining, you're getting older.
Old people have hated new music compared to their own since forever, for the most part at least.

Like a typical dumb-ass you stereo-type us older people!
I'm 57 years of age, and I don't consider myself to be old. I don't even feel like 57.
Also, I'm up on the latest rock music, so I still like to rock and roll!!!
I enjoy both the old classics from the 1960s and 1970s, but I also have my favorites from the 1980s and the 1990s and even some of my favorites from the 2000s.
I'm not some ol' fuddy duddy who hates the new music. I don't like every song I hear, but there are a lot of them that I do like.
So, you can stick that under your tin foil hat!!!
DUMB-ASS!!!

I don't hate all modern music. For example, Metallica are good. And some 80's music does indeed suck... back in '84 one of my friends played me Young at Heart by The Bluebells and I actually took the record out of the player and broke it over my head as it sucked so much, I couldn't contain myself! Still she says to me "Ach Katrin, when are ye gonna buy me another copy of that record ye broke?" once in a while... goes to show that every era has its hits and its shits!

Look up 'sonic earplugs'. They are very different from the foam variety. They don't plug up your ears and create a vacuum problem in your eustachian tubes like the foam ones will. They are ventilated and designed to cut sound without being hard on the ears.
I had a pair for many years being a musician. They are a little more expensive, but they are worth it, imo.
You can usually find them at a music store.
YAY!!!! We got a music store not too far, too! No more Ms. Pissy in the morning.

Yea Katrin has a point. I like music in different styles, from different decades and what-not. I can agree that, I as a modern person could undeniably justify, that music is getting crappier by the volumes. There's no actual special talent put into rap, though, as the Boar says, it has a lot of meaning. Well if it has a lot of meaning then why have I yet come across a meaningful rap song in all my time spent with my rap-loving aunts and cousins?
Indeed, Screamo may be hard to listen to for people who aren't used to it, but even I, a person who generally doesn't pay too much attention to musical lyrics, can discern clear lyrics from such songs. Maybe Detroit is playing the stuff too loud intentionally as to try to disprove our point?
And, yes, it would require a lot to just learn how to "scream" without doing significant damage to your larynx. I highly doubt it takes any type of specialised training to learn how to put together rhyming lyrics. A child in 4th grade could do that just well - they just need the broader vocabulary they gain over the years until they are of an employable age.

Please, try and make a good meaningful rap song.
There is a lot of bad rap songs out there, but to describe a whole genre as "crap" and "talentless" is beyond ignorant.

Most people don't like "rap" music. It's OK as novelty sound effects for a few seconds in movies but as music? No.
Check out the latest thing out of Poland.
The Warsaw Village Band. They are cool.

Most kids like rap music, or at least a lot of them.
10-20 years down the line rap will be more respected because older people will like it. It's already beginning to happen.
And that band sounds talented but it's not usually what I'd listen to, and plus I can't understand what they're saying because I don't know Polish.
