Thanks for the compliment, recovering_fan. :) But really I'm neither a conservative nor a liberal, neither a Democrat nor a Republican (or a Libertarian). I'm a man without a party (a political party, that is). Politics is so relative. In northern California (where Cycloptichorn and my sister live), I'd be considered a reactionary; but in a state like Mississippi, Alabama, or South Carolina, I'd be considered a liberal. I've even become politically apathetic and hardly ever vote (not that I'm recommending that anyone else do the same).

Last fall I joined a liberal website (http://www.democraticunderground.org) because of all the anti-bullying threads. Although some individual conservative persons were just as badly bullied in school as anyone else, political conservatives as a group seem to have far less sympathy for bullied kids than liberals do. Eventually I started a topic at that website entitled "Why don't they like sports?" under the username "bbdad." And, yes, I did receive some negative reaction from (you guessed correctly) sports fans, as well as positive responses from other members. If you visited that website and did cite searches on "jock bullies," "p.e. bullying," "phys ed bullying," or just "bullying," you would be amazed by how many of their members were bullied when they were in school. (Of course, if they knew my views on abortion and same-sex marriage, they'd probably have me banned immediately. )

Just so no one gets the wrong impression about me, I'm not a bigot when it comes to politics. After all, when I still considered myself to be a Democrat, I married a Republican. You might say that we have a mixed marriage. My close friends have included both conservatives and liberals. Not only that, my current best friend ("best friend" in terms of all the years I've known him) is (horror of horrors) a former high-school football player.

Good morning Earl:

I'm so glad this web site is back up and running again. It was down for about 7 hours.

Anyway . . . . .

Yeah, I remember when I was just a kid about 11 or 12 years old, I was already a political animal.

My stepfather was rather conservative, and I remember the family arguments we use to have concerning the Civil Rights act of 1964 and I remember good ol' Berry Goldwater.

Yeah, good ol' Berry Au H2O!!!

That's what I use to call him back in those days.

I think young people today need to sit down and listen to some of us ol' fuddy duddies from the baby boomer generation.

Young people need to be aware of the history of the 1960s and how the majority of CONservatives were opposed to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and how these CONservatives are lying when they all claim to have supported it, when in fact, they did not!!!

Every time I hear some CONservative on TV or radio shooting off his big mouth, I swear I can smell pants burning even over the media!

(Liar Liar Pants On Fire! - as the popular song from the 1970s goes.)

Yeah, the democratic party, as you have said, also has a right wing. The Southern Democrats you were referring to, are known as Dixiecrats. And surprisingly enough, there are some liberal republicans, so both parties have a right wing and a left wing.

But of course, the majority of Republicans are right wing, and the Dixiecrats, the right wing of the Democratic party make up a small minority, while the majority of Democrats tend to be liberal.

As I have mentioned a few time before I'm a liberal on most social, economic, and political issues.

I remember what you said about abortion, that it should only be done if the pregnancy is a threat to a woman's life, that is should only be done to save her live.

Of course, I also believe that if a woman has become pregnant from being raped or if a young girl who has been sexually molested, especially in the case of incest, they should also be able to have an abortion. I mean, like, really! Why should a 12 or 13 year old girl be forced to carry a pregnancy full term is she is the victim of rape or incest?

That's my opinion on that issue.

But I do have to agree, too many people are using abortion as a convenient cop-out.

People need to avoid pregnancies in the first place.

Another words . . . . .

Gentlemen! KEEP YOU ROCKETS IN YOUR POCKETS!!!

Of course, it dose take two to dance the Last Tango in Paris, if you know what I mean.

OK, something weird is going on.

I see the usual links on the index page.

Board index » Sports Suck!

When I click on Board index the page still won't open, but when I click on Sports Suck! it goes to the Index page.

It still need fixing.

All the links seem to be working fine for me. I sometimes find my internet plays up and I can't get onto the forum, but it may be a problem with the site's server that causes this. I'm sure this isn't anything.

Best regards,
