Well, it's another weekend now, but an extremely busy one, but hopefully I'll find some time to do some posting this weekend, as there has been a lot going on here that I feel the need to reply to. I apologize that I haven't been able to post much this week even though there has been a lot going on here. Anyway, for this post, I'm not trying to take sides, but for the purpose of being fair, I must bring something into this argument. I have added bold to these quotes to highlight what I'm displaying.
Fat Man wrote:It was then he said that spying on kids at home is "perfectly justifyable, (moron can't even spell) as long as it has no sexual reasons whatsoever, and it was done in the interest of keeping society safer."

Hey, I was going to mention that one, but I suppose that I had to defend The Imperialist personally before pointing out a spelling mistake. Nonetheless, words cannot define how much I am irritated by that particular spelling mistake. I don't know why, but seeing someone use "your" or "you're" in the wrong way really gets my blood boiling. I like to think that they're just too lazy to add the extra apostrophe and letter "e" to form the word "you're", or they were typing too quickly and the wrong form of the word was used, because if they can't actually tell the difference, that's just poor.

Best regards,

Whoops!

That was a typo! Normally I make sure that "your" and "you're" are properly used.

But sometimes I do make mistakes.

Yeah! This is embarrassing.

I certainly do, and if Fat Man wants to challenge Imperialist to a spelling duel, I think it's only fair that Imperialist be allowed to pick the language.
We have so few currently active members now that we simply can't afford to have any more losses. In the scheme of things, what difference does The Imperialist's political views make?
Very true about the losses. Actually, I'm glad to have Imperialist aboard, because I feel bleeding-heart liberal Democrats like me are starting to dominate the place. It's always best if there is a little balance to people's views.

PS (@ Imperialist): Don't forget to vote against Wikilinks in our poll when you have the time!

Yes, I know that you're very sensitive with issues when there are children involved, and I do understand this, but the Imperialist wasn't condoning any inappropriate sexual behaviour. I've disagreed with the Imperialist on an issue before - regarding bullying, on some other thread on this forum. But the best way of going about a disagreement is to respond to the other person's statement with reasons why you disagree with them and perhaps some evidence that could counter some points they raised. Insulting them is just not a sign of good debating skills. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and you are entitled to disagree with them and tell them that you disagree with them, but if you're just going to shout insults at them and keep bringing up the same incident on them to make them feel bad... it's just pointless. Come on, with that idiot wibberley having succeeded in wasting a lot of our time recently, and over the past 10 months as a matter of fact, we need some decent debaters on these forums and the Imperialist is one of them. The guy does agree with you on the main issue of this forum - SPORTS.

Well, I feel very strongly about individual human rights.

Imperialist doesn't seem to have any problem with that state spying on in it's citizens, and when he said that spying on kids is necessary to protect society, well, that's when he made an enemy of yours truly, the Fat Man!

Sorry, but individual human rights, and privacy, that's a hot button issue with me, and Imperialist pushed my hot buttons.

Now, I can understand having surveillance cameras in some public places like in a bank, or an air port, or even in the hallway of a school.

But when they are able to spy on you in your own bedroom or the bathroom, and violate your privacy, that is going way too far.

And when he made another moronic statement about the Civil Rights movement being the cause of crime in the USA, well . . . . .

. . . the Civil Rights movement was necessary because it was through that movement that the Jim Crow Laws were abolished so that blacks are no longer required to sit in the back of the bus, or required to drink from public water fountains designated for blacks, separate public restrooms for black, or abolishing laws that said that blacks were not allowed to eat in some restaurants.

We seriously needed the Civil Rights movement, and we still need it.

Yes, there were some riots that broke out during the Civil Rights demonstrations in the streets, but most of the riots were provoked by right wing extremists and incidents of police brutality. People have died fighting to Civil Rights.

So, privacy, and individual human rights is far more important than states rights!

Sorry, but Imperialist is an idiot!

Have you ever noticed that most people don't say you're an idiot, Moron, stupid, etc. When they don't agree with you?

Why can't you follow that example?, You know.. being polite and all.

I agree with you, Brigan. (BTW, I'm glad to hear from you again. :) ) But please be careful, and don't be surprised by the negative reception you might receive. Not exactly of a timid disposition, an enraged Fat Man doth not minceth words. :|

Uh-oh. I think there's going to be another round of invective. I shall depart the premises immediately. Have fun, guys!

Nah! I'm not going to fight with Brigan just simply because he disagreed with my calling Imperialist an idiot.

At least Brigan hasn't said any moronic shit about the Civil Right movement being responsible for crime in the USA or some stupid shit that spying on children is necessary to protect society, like we have to be afraid of children and keep them under surveillance with spy cameras.

YEAH RIGHT!!!

Sorry, but Imperialists gives me the creeps! OK?

I don't even like his user name Imperialists because Imperialism is Fascist!

Now, I expect jocks and sports fans to be Fascist, but not somebody who claims to be anti-sports.

Now look, Fat Man, my friend. I DO like Imperialist and don't want to lose him. I will look into his alleged comments on Civil Rights and spying, but for now, just play nice for a change and don't fan the flames. Please!

[ @ Imperialist, if you're listening ... take some care what you say in forums run by Westerners. I know the myth is that we tolerate everything in the name of free speech, but we most certainly do not. Just warning you, as one sports-hater to another. :) ]

OK, I just feel very uncomfortable with some of Imperialist's views on government.

I don't believe in Imperialism and I don't believe in Monarchies!

Both Monarchies and Imperialism is old hat!

They're dinosaurs as far as I'm concerned.

I prefer living in a Democracy. Yeah, sometimes I get angry and say "fuck the USA" but it's really not the fault of the system so much as it is with the people we entrust to run our Government. Sometimes we get some real screw-up in our high political offices.

Also, sometimes it's the fault of the people, because we don't always make wise choices when we vote.

Democracy works best when most of the citizens are well informed and well educated, and our present declining quality of education in so many of our schools presents a threat to our future security and to our freedom.

Now, I don't know who it was that once said the following . . . . .

"Democracy is the worst system there is, but it's the best we've been able to come up with so far!"

I'll have to do a Google search on that one.

But as screwed up as Democracy is sometimes, it's still better than living under Imperialism or a Monarchy.

Now, I do admire the Japanese culture. Hell, the average Japanese even looks more intelligent than the Average American!!! OK!

But Japan does have a rather extensive history of authoritarian political systems. But then, so do a lot of nations. I might still admire their cultures, while still feeling uncomfortable with their systems of Government.

So, between Imperialist and I, well, I guess what we have here is a clash between eastern and western values.

No, I don't actually hate Imperialist himself, I just hate some of his assertions which I perceive to be coming from a position of ignorance on his part. OK?

(Another words, a more polite way of calling him a dumb-ass.)

OK! JUST KIDDING! OK???

Sorry, I just couldn't resist that one!!!

Sometimes I do like to shoot off my big fat mouth, like the verbal westerner shooting from the lip!

I guess I need to put on a yock-strap!

Hello again Brigan - I wasn't expecting to see you on this forum again. It's good to hear from you once more. Good luck at law school. It sounds like you're studying pretty damn hard indeed.

As far as Fat Man and the Imperialist are concerned... we shall have to see if there shall come a topic on this board in which they will both realise that they're on a pretty similar page...

Best regards,
