Sometimes it's good to explore different types of music that you usually don't listen to most of the time.

For example, I don't care too much for country music if it's the redneck boo hoo cry in your beer type of music.

But there are some country songs I like, such as Colorado Rocky Mountain High or The Highway Man and a few others.
Provided it is not recent, I will give all sorts of different types of music a chance. Unfortunately I do not give any music from the 2000s or 1990s a chance and there's nothing that can be changed about that. That is when gangsta rap and irritating girly pop started to overrule the charts and every kind of music went off in a more commercialised direction. Last decade did to music what last century did to the horse and carriage.

Anyway, I am currently listening to Queen's song Brighton Rock from 1974.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdUKi3_QntE
I like most of the songs by Queen from all of their main career from the early 1970s to the late 1980s but I like their earlier stuff the most, when they performed high quality rock songs like this one that defined the rock of the 1970s.

The first line of this song is where the phrase in my signature came from.

Xenogears(1999) flight, I've always been a fan of video game music this one is a favorite of mine. Music sounds better when you're kicking giant robot ass with it. :D
"We believe in Vader, the Darth almighty, destroyer of Alderaan and the Sith. We believe in Luke, his only son, our Jedi. He was concieved by the power of the Force, and born of the senator Padme. Suffered under Darth Sidius, electrocuted, survived and partied with Ewoks. He descended to the Death Star, on the third hour he flew out in an Imperial ship and landed on Endor. He is seated on the right hand of Obi-Wan's ghost. He will come again to train Leia to be a Jedi. We believe? in Yoda.........:D

1999? I'm not having that! It has to be 70's or 80's or I'll be on you like white on rice! Well... perhaps not. If you saw me in real life you'd never let yourself get frightened.
Me? Well, I've been listening to Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere (1985):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPQcnjlwtE4
A very good 80's song; the video is most bizarre. But still relevant to the song. I love this one.

Oh no nobody disses rice while I'm here. I eat rice everybody so bring it. BTW the forum thread doesn't ask which "80s or 70s" song you're listening to anyway. Also you should change your name to I love the 70s and 80s you sound like a blasmphemer since that song isn't from 1981. I'm willing to bet there isn't some giant robot combat action that complacments your song either. :P Anyway know any old-school video game songs/music? My name is actually part of an attack from a cartoon I watched when I was younger if you want to throw any jabs yourself lol.

While I'm here it does. But what am I going to do about it? I'm just here to keep an eye out in case any member submits to the sheepish cult that are the charts followers!

Even I believe in a bit of variety once in a while. But 1989 is as new as I get. Believe it or not, I don't spend all my time ranting on about how great 1981 was in real life. Although I can't prove that, can I?
Indurrago wrote:I'm willing to bet there isn't some giant robot combat action that complacments your song either.
It probably isn't the sort. I really am missing out on the fun. :D

What am I listening to? Well, nothing at the moment. Hate to say it, but I really can't think of a song I'd like to hear at the moment!

Thanks for the 80's music and cheesy video. I don't mind people playing tricks on me as long as there's some old stuff involved in there. I must be one of the few people who actually likes that song.

With Me "Massive Power Mix" (Sonic and the Black Knight) - Crush 40
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaH0GA-xsAU

Lyrics:

You know every world will have it's end
And I'm here to prove it all to you
I am who you don't think I am
All wrapped up in my evil plan

I can taste the day
Savor night
Spells beyond you
As I watch you crawl
Do you dare to fight
Evil's might
I'll be the last one standing
In a flash of light

My eyes are filled with curiosity
You think that you have power over me
In this life there's no room for you and me
So, turn away or face this day with me, with me...

You know, every world will have it's test
Don't blame for what I have become
You know every world will come to end
And I'll create your final rest

I can taste the day
Savor night
Scream your dreams
As you dare to fight, dare to fight

My eyes are filled with curiosity
You think that you have power over me
In this life there's no room for you and me
So, turn away or face this day with me, with me...
With me, with me...

I can taste the day
Savor night
Scream your dreams
As you dare to fight, dare to fight

My eyes are filled with curiosity
You think that you have power over me
In this life there's no room for you and me
So, turn away or face this day with me, with me...

Never played the game, but this song is awesome!

Right now, I'm listening to It's Good To Be King by Tom Petty.

I'm in a good mood now that I'm all straightened out with my bank account.

For the past few weeks I felt that I had lost control of my own life, and for a few days I had no coffee and no pipe tobacco.

But now, I'm able to buy groceries and I have my coffee and my smokes. I have regained control of my own life again.

I'm now King in my own little domain.

And so, to celebrate, I'm kicking back smoking my pipe and I have coffee, and I'm listing to this song.

Tom Petty - It's Good To Be King
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvIz_GXKUss

It's Good To Be King
Tom Petty

It's good to be king, if just for a while
To be there in velvet, yeah, to give 'em a smile
It's good to get high and never come down
It's good to be king of your own little town

Yeah, the world would swing if I were king
Can I help it if I still dream time to time

It's good to be king and have your own way
Get a feeling of peace at the end of the day
And when your bulldog barks and your canary sings
You're out there with winners, it's good to be king

Yeah I'll be king when dogs get wings
Can I help it if I still dream time to time

It's good to be king and have your own world
It helps to make friends, it's good to meet girls
A sweet little queen who can't run away
It's good to be king, whatever it pays

Excuse me if I have some place in my mind
Where I go time to time.

Well, I do have a sweet lady friend. She's like a sister to me, even more of a sister to me than my own real sister has been.

She's my health care work who comes to my apartment on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and she's a dear friend.

So, now that things are back to normal for me, I can celebrate.

Yes, I still have to unsubscribe to Sports Newsletters that I'm still getting in my E-mails, but since I have a new ATM card with a new number, I can't be charged for magazine subscriptions that I didn't order. And the harassing phone calls have stopped since I changed my phone number.

So, once again, I'm the King in my own little castle.

That's great news to hear, Fat Man. I hope things stay like this for you. It always sucks to feel you can't live your life the way you want to, especially when it's over something as pointless and trivial as sports. I don't get why people put sports on a pedestal so much. To express a vocal dislike of them is equivalent to racism or supporting terrorism. Well, that's the way some people have made me feel about it! I don't get why people allow themselves to get eaten up so much over this one insignificant website and the views of some "nerds"; I think it shows we've got them on the ropes. (Oh no! I said it again! Hate to admit it, but I kinda like that phrase. :D )

Anyways, good to hear your life's back on track. Enjoy the smokes and the coffee; enjoy your newfound harmony.

Actually, I also kind of like that phrase "on the ropes" because I would love to see all the pedophile coaches and all the athlete rapists on the ropes.

That is, hanging on the end of a short rope with their toes just barely touching the ground.

Oh! And speaking of hangings . . . . .

I found this really cool song on a You Tube video of Saddam getting hanged.

Actually, the video images of the hanging of Saddam is very small, you can just barely see it, and the song lyrics scrolling up the screen makes it even harder to see.

Execution Row (Postcards of the Hanging) - by Jan Lewis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQNBJpapIpQ

Execution Row
by Jan Lewis

They're selling postcards of the hanging
They're pulling the statues down
The streets are filled with Shiites
The Kurds are back in town.
Here comes the blind ambassador
He's not smiling any more.
On one hand we got the dictator,
On the other hand this bloody war.
And the riot squad is restless
They can't wait to start the show.
As CNN reports tonight from
Execution Row.

Well, Saddam, he is a criminal
"It takes one to know one," he cries,
Which started me to thinking
about all of Bush's lies.
Except for Bush and Cheney,
and a few old neocons,
Everybody knows the real
winner here is Iran;
And the only sound that's left
After the Ayatollahs go
Is Halliburton sweeping up on
Execution Row.

Rumsfeld disguised as Arafat,
With his memories on his back,
passed this way about an hour ago,
He was trying to find Iraq.
They're spoon-feeding Mr. President,
to get him to feel more assured,
Then they'll kill with with self-confidence
after poisoning him with words,
And the secretary of defense,
He was famous long ago,
For playing 'em like a violin
On Execution Row.

Colin Powell and Akmed Chalaby,
Fighting on the Whitehouse grounds
Bush said they had weapons
But look at what they found.
They'll welcome us as heroes,
They'll throw flowers at our feet,
But IDEs is all they throw
And there's chaos in the street
And the prisoners up in Abu Grabe
and down in Guantanamo,
they dream about escaping to
Execution Row.

"Execution Row"
Performed and written by Jan Lewis.
2006-2007

I found this while searching for country western songs about hangings.

But I found this new one instead.

I think it's a really cool song!

Little Richard - "The Girl Can't Help It"
* I always had hopes of being a big star. But as you get older, you aim a little lower. Everybody wants to make an impression, some mark upon the world. Then you think, you've made a mark on the world if you just get through it, and a few people remember your name. Then you've left a mark. You don't have to bend the whole world. I think it's better to just enjoy it. Pay your dues, and just enjoy it. If you shoot an arrow and it goes real high, hooray for you.*
