People like me are NEEDED in business. We are ambitious and hard working. If everybody was ambitious and confident, then productivity and efficiency in all industries would rise significantly. The reason why the economy is in the shitter is because of nerds who feel oh so entitled to every position they have, and they have this sense of "intellectual superiority" over others. Because of their superiority complex, they feel as though they don't need to DO anything. THIS is what causes problems. Jocks like me, on the other hand, have to prove to the world that we're not idiots, due to the misconception placed upon us by jealous nerds like yourself. If you DIDN'T falsely label us as idiots, then we wouldn't have much to prove and wouldn't be as ambitious. So thank you, nerds! You're helping us jocks by inspiring us to be successful! Fact is, some of us are married with our own families.

Earl is married, and has two daughters, both are teachers.

Rotten has a wife and children.

I'm not married, but I have three lady friends. One is black, in her 30s, kind of chubby and really cute. She drops by to visit, and we go out for lunch.

I have another friend, in her 50s, who is well educated, and her son is in forensic science.

Another lady friend who is much older, she has been a school teacher for 30 years, teaching science, and her son is also in science.

They dropped by a couple of times last month.

I like to associate with people who are well educated.

Surely you must realize the comments posted in this topic were made in a spirit of jest. We were just joking. In real life I would never chortle over anyone being tasered.

You seem to be making assumptions about us, people whom you've never met (a common feature of board messaging, to be sure). You apparently have spent some time reading posts previously submitted by one or more of us; so, I may be about to say what you already know about me. If so, please forgive. Some of us are not even close to your age. Three of us are in our sixties. When I was young, I never earned the honor of being categorized as a nerd. I didn't apply myself academically as I should have when I was in school. (I had bad study habits and an emotional problem or two.) As far as "getting laid" is concerned, I've been happily married for over 30 years and am the father of two daughters who are now young adults. For several years I've been working out at a local 24 Hour Fitness. I've hired a personal trainer to work with me on a bodybuilding program. I have never "hated" sports; I simply never had any interest in participating in any team sport or viewing athletic contests as a spectator. And I've never denigrated athletes for participating in sports. My best friend, who is one of my congregation's deacons, played football in high school. He's managed to keep himself in shape and has avoided putting on fat. He's a really nice guy, one of the most gentle persons I've ever met.

I'm afraid the economic problems we're now experiencing have nothing to do with nerds, but have everything to do with governmental policies.

I've never thought of nerds as having a sense of superiority over others. At least generally speaking. In fact, I'd expect them to have low self-esteem, particularly at high schools where athletics are elevated over academics.

You seem to have a sense of group grievance, just as Fat Man does. I find this to be fascinating. When have you heard nerds label athletes as idiots? If so, please describe a specific instance or two in your personal experience (other than comments made by Fat Man ). I'm not putting you on. I'm serious about this. Athletes and nonathletes seem to live in their own separate worlds. Promoting understanding instead of just conducting another flame war would be great. If you resent nerds so much, you could explain why. What am I saying? You apparently resent nerds a lot. Why the resentment? Again, I'm perfectly serious about this. (It takes all types of people to run a country, including both "jocks" and "nerds." Can't have one without the other.)

As far as guys like you taking jobs from nerds in upper management is concerned, there seems to be a problem with your scenario; and that is, most nerds (if I understand the meaning of the word "nerd" correctly) seek employment in the sciences and/or the teaching profession instead of business.

No, too many people are ambitious. Ambition means pushing your way in front of people who are better qualified to fill positions than you are. The reaction of certain members has been to make no distinction between decent critics of this website (who may even agree with us on certain issues) and those who are just haters, such as BuffJock.

I didn't think Andy was a bad guy, but I thought he needed to be taken down a peg. He had a football player's typical superiority complex. He seemed to think he was entitled to absolution from this site just ... because he was "so great". He also seemed to think we should all look up to him, because he had good grades AND played football.

The way I see it, a 3.3 GPA is a 3.3 GPA. Good, but nothing I should have to drool at the sight of. Just playing football doesn't somehow make that 3.3 the same as a 3.9.

I did feel bad about the way I conducted myself with Andy.
