Re: pop music sucks
I hate it when people insist on using Black English Venacular.
And how it was spread by stupid pop music which has no use whatsoever.
(And I find the situation quite hilarious, but ban him/her/it already. It does get tiring after a while- but he/she/it seems to be off)

Re: pop music sucks
Well, Fat Man, recovering_fan and Earl, I never did say I was going to leave the forums immediately without another word, but thanks for your messages. It pleases me to know that I'm an appreciated presence here. All I'm saying is, we have been led up a blind alley for months by this wibberley dickhead and I feel especially browned off seeing as how I did think I'd met someone with a similar stance on the modern music debate and he sent me some rather intelligent and more well-spoken PMs earlier on in the year. Whoever he was, he had me fooled. But he's given himself away now, and I'm sure the mastermind behind the wibberley account is having a good laugh at our expense having got a 200-post thread out of us now and having caused rather a stir on these forums. I'm frankly glad he's gone. Anyways, I intend to stick around for a while yet, so long as no more wibberleys come along any time soon.
Best regards,
i_like_1981
You're going to need to clarify this for me a bit, Imperialist. Call me ignorant, but what is the Black English Venacular? Is it a form of the English language? That would be my guess. Does this have something to do with wibberley and his rather lousy grammar? As far as I'm aware, wibberley and his other two trolling accounts have been banned - they haven't posted today or yesterday. Hopefully that's the last we'll hear of this guy. Although I do want to send him a PM or email to let off some steam. The Imperialist wrote:I hate it when people insist on using Black English Venacular.

Re: pop music sucks
Or the above (but I think African-American Venacular is the official term)
Wiki should have it, but it is essentially the language of 'rappers' and I hate it so.
(Especially when a bunch white middle class kids start using it even in normal conversations)

Sometimes when I go to my health club for a workout session with my personal trainer, rap music is being played on the intercom.

Oops. Did I give an even less PC version of the term you were using? The Imperialist wrote:Or the above (but I think African-American Venacular is the official term)

As far as I'm concerned, upper-middle class white pretenders who want to act like "bum rappers" can idolise whomever they like. The only time it bothers me is when some 18 year-old addresses me in ... the vernacular, and I'm at a complete loss for how to respond. I'm thinking: "Alright, bub, I've spent the last 30 years of my life constantly trying to improve my use of standard English. Now I'm supposed to learn to speak like a "bum rapper" all of a sudden? Aw hell..."

Re: pop music sucks
I... fail to see what exactly this has to do with wibberley? Or are you just saying that you dislike anyone who can't keep to the conventions of standard English when talking? Well, I kind of agree with you on that. But it is the younger, trendy generation and "txtspeak" which have mauled our good language the most. Why, have a look through some of the posts on this website from our less "enlightened" members in the past if you want to see what people have degenerated to using when typing messages on the internet...The Imperialist wrote:Or the above (but I think African-American Venacular is the official term)

Trendiness is the bastion of conformist cowards. (Especially when they start expecting everybody else to be of the same 'trend')

I wish to thank moderators Skul, and Earl for reinstating me on this site. I wish particularly to thank 1981 for his throwing me a lifeline by sending me a personal message which enabled me to endeavour to make an apology. I wish to apologize to all board members whom i have offended in the past. I would not wish what has happened to me on anyone else. Being barred from the forum was like a small child waking up in the middle of the night, and going to his mummy and daddys room and finding they weren't there.

I Thought your moronic posts were actually funny. It's not often we get to communicate with a real psycho.

Come on, Fat Man. Let's be polite. Give him a chance. Considering how very small we are, we need all the members we can get.Fat Man wrote:Actually, I wasn't offended.wibberley wrote:I wish to thank moderators Skul, and Earl for reinstating me on this site. Give wibberley a break. Since I started posting at websites in February of last year, I've posted comments online that I'm not proud of. We all make that kind of mistake.

Wibberley, not everyone, just Fat Man. When someone is mocking or attacking you, don't assume the rest of us agree with him just because we aren't saying anything.wibberley wrote:i dont know what everybody is getting worked up
