A guess as to the identity of i_like_1981

In one of his posts addressed to me, i_like_1981 (who then was using the faux username "Harold") said "Can you guess who it really is. I leave it to you." Several times I have guessed incorrectly. But now I may have the answer. I've been looking for clues, and here is what I've noticed lately: In one of his sportingnews posts, i_like_1981 uses the British variant of "behavior." In another post at this website, he uses a metric unit for weight (actually, it's a unit for mass). This is significant because, aside from scientific concerns, the United States is not on the metric system; Great Britain is on the metric system. So, these two facts lead me to believe that i_like_1981 is a citizen of Great Britain. i_like_1981 has also used German from time to time in his posts. As far as I know (from what I've observed), only one of our members is British and has used German in "his" posts; and that member is ... Katrin. Am I right?

I didn't notice any of those things --except for the Deutsch part. I did notice that this person claimed to speak German.

Is he simply 1981?

It could be our member, The1982Channel. He contacted me on YouTube not that long ago, asking if a certain relentless sports bore was still on here.

Hi, Skul. I think you're on to something here. I've just reread his posts. I noticed the reference to Margaret Thatcher in his signature, which wouldn't be indisputable proof that he's British; but, on the other hand, because the subject of this website is nonpolitical, American members would not be inclined to make any references to the politics of the UK or any other country. Also, his faux username i_like_1981 has the number of the year that is before 1982, which is in the username The1982Channel used when he became a member. And, especially, there's a feisty tone in The1982Channel's posts that reminds me of i_like_1981's hilarious feistiness. I did consider him as a possibility before. I based my previous guesses on particular facts that I thought were clues as I ran across them. Now I believe that i_like_1981 must be The1982Channel.

By the way, I hope The1982Channel didn't let any of the other members discourage him from posting here. We need all the members we can get. Anyway, i_like_1981 has turned out to be our zaniest and funniest member.

Oh, no! Please forgive me! But, seriously, I wasn't upset with our mystery poster at all. I thought he was (and is) quite funny. The "1981" should have clued me off from the very beginning, but I discounted The1982Channel because he had posted only four times. I thought that he had gone on to other pasture. I've now seen the light and believe that it's him (not her?).

By the way, I just feel the need to get this out in the open so we can all know:
I am not The1982Channel.
I have seen the 1982 channel's YouTube page and to me, he just seems like a punk kid who wishes he was around in the 1980's. But then again, he can't be much of a "punk" if he shares this same passion for old music! Although, I don't mind the odd bit of 70's punk now and again... perhaps we're both punks!
I have got a YouTube now and I did sort of steal the design of the 1982 channel, including background and logo. Of course, it ain't 1982 any more. It's 1981 on mine! Still, I find it somewhat original... if you really like a certain year, why not paint it up nice and clear hundreds of times so everyone can know about it?
